We still have to use it to get around, but that is so normal now that it isn&#8217;t so exhausting as the language required in the relationships we are building.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Friends<\/strong>&#8211; We stayed with some friends while here, which provided times of fellowship, games and so much more. \u00a0There is something special about friendship with people who understand your heart language and culture\n<p><figure id=\"attachment_1166\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1166\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-mcmartin\/files\/2012\/06\/P1010731.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1166\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-mcmartin\/files\/2012\/06\/P1010731.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-mcmartin\/files\/2012\/06\/P1010731.jpg 500w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-mcmartin\/files\/2012\/06\/P1010731-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1166\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Yeah for friends who speak English<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Packages!!!!<\/strong>&#8211; There are many places for the boys to play that are all a special treat to them. \u00a0They love our trips to Dakar!<\/li>\n<li><strong>The bakery<\/strong> &#8211; Good fresh bread&#8230;THAT I DIDN&#8217;T COOK!<\/li>\n<li><strong>A car<\/strong> that we can use to get things done quickly (well at least as quickly as you can in Africa)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Restaurants<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; There are places we can eat within walking distance, so it is nice to have a little break from cooking everything from scratch.<\/li>\n<li>Running water that I don&#8217;t have to worry about conserving at ALL.<\/li>\n<li>Being in a place where few people know us and so we have very few obligations<\/li>\n<li>Great things we can buy from missionaries who are leaving Africa. \u00a0We got bikes for the boys, a waterbed for our guest room, plastic drawers, and great Christmas presents for the boys.<\/li>\n<li><strong>THE BEACH<\/strong>\n<p><figure id=\"attachment_1157\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1157\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-mcmartin\/files\/2012\/06\/DSC_4211.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1157\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-mcmartin\/files\/2012\/06\/DSC_4211.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-mcmartin\/files\/2012\/06\/DSC_4211.jpg 500w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-mcmartin\/files\/2012\/06\/DSC_4211-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1157\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The beach is awesome for hot days<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Dakar is still Africa, but even just the change of scenery provides an amazing break and time of rest. \u00a0I would have never thought 9 months ago that Dakar would be a treat for us, but that alone shows how far we have come. \u00a0Thank you God for providing the place and the chance to get away and rest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Exhaustion of Progresss This past week we felt the exhaustion of our past month, but it was a good kind of exhaustion because we could also look back and see the progress we have made this month. \u00a0We are becoming very close to our host family and have been learning so much from them.
