{"id":1884,"date":"2013-01-25T18:19:01","date_gmt":"2013-01-25T18:19:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-mcmartin\/?p=1884"},"modified":"2013-01-25T18:19:01","modified_gmt":"2013-01-25T18:19:01","slug":"growing-in-language-and-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-mcmartin\/2013\/01\/25\/growing-in-language-and-life\/","title":{"rendered":"Growing in Language and Life"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Our Language Helper<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Awhile ago we were praying for God to direct us to a good language helper. \u00a0God did just what we asked. \u00a0We have been blessed to have a language helper who is not only patient and helpful, but also one who loves the Lord. \u00a0Moussa is a man from our local church. \u00a0He has been a believer for about 6 years. \u00a0When he came to faith he lost his wife and child and was rejected by the rest of his family. \u00a0He was fired from his job and continues to face ridicule from members of his family. \u00a0Throughout all of this, however, he continues to Love the Lord and seeks to grow. \u00a0He also willingly chooses to live with his family despite how they treat him. \u00a0He chooses to show love to them so that his family might have the opportunity to see God&#8217;s love. \u00a0We asked him to come everyday to help us with language, but we are learning so much more about what it means to sacrifice. \u00a0I can&#8217;t help but be encouraged and challenged by this man. \u00a0I pray that we too will be willing to sacrifice that God&#8217;s love might be seen through us.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Progress<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We now are two weeks into our language study and it has been going great. \u00a0The language has some challenges, but so far we have remained encouraged and keep pressing forward. \u00a0On top of our Wolof study we continue to stretch our levels in French through our interactions outside our language study. \u00a0Joel will begin leading Sunday school at church and I am facilitating the next Woman&#8217;s Bible study here. \u00a0It is a busy time of life for us, but God continues to strengthen us each day.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1886\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1886\" style=\"width: 480px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-mcmartin\/files\/2013\/01\/DSC_6876.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1886 \" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-mcmartin\/files\/2013\/01\/DSC_6876.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"320\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-mcmartin\/files\/2013\/01\/DSC_6876.jpg 800w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-mcmartin\/files\/2013\/01\/DSC_6876-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-mcmartin\/files\/2013\/01\/DSC_6876-500x333.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1886\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Pray with us as we press forward each day<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our Language Helper Awhile ago we were praying for God to direct us to a good language helper. \u00a0God did just what we asked. \u00a0We have been blessed to have a language helper who is not only patient and helpful, but also one who loves the Lord. \u00a0Moussa is a man from our local church.
