Senegalese Wedding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our church is very small and Saturday was the first wedding they have had in a while, so it was a BIG event. \u00a0It was fun to see a little bit of Senegalese culture. \u00a0The true Senegalese ceremony was held out in a village (someday we will see one of those too), so this ceremony had a lot of Western influences. \u00a0Here are some things I learned about culture here through the ceremony.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The more it sparkles the better. <\/strong>Dress is important here. \u00a0It shows your respect and honor for who you are seeing. \u00a0Apparently you are supposed to wear a new outfit whenever you go to a wedding and the more it sparkles the better. \u00a0It was fun to see everyone dressed up in their fancy clothes. \u00a0There was a mix of traditional outfits and fancy gowns. \u00a0It was an opportunity to where my first Senegalese outfit. \u00a0I only had a few sparkles on it. \u00a0I will have to work up to time<\/strong> &#8211; The wedding started 1 and half hours late. \u00a0I will be a little smarter next time \ud83d\ude42 \u00a0In fact probably about a forth of the people at the ceremony walked in trailing the bride. \u00a0Apparently the bride not only gets walked down by her father, but also her WHOLE family.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_484\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-484\" <\/strong>I knew we were in trouble when there were chairs provided for the bride and groom. \u00a0The ceremony was very long, but in this culture all the formalities of a ceremony are very danced down the aisle. \u00a0It was awesome. \u00a0At the end of the reception there was traditional dancing. \u00a0Everyone of ALL ages joined in and knew what to do. \u00a0My favorite was seeing a father dancing with his two children on his hips (talk about a workout).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_488\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-488\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption
