One of the tasks we have is to decide where we will work as an organization.\u00a0 We are looking for people groups with the least access to the gospel.\u00a0 This research takes time and so we try to keep ahead of it so that we have options for new places people can work by the time they are ready to be allocated.\u00a0 After our conference Joel embarked on 2 of these trips.\u00a0 One taking him to Guinea Bissau and another taking him to Northern Senegal.\u00a0 He left for the first trip\u00a0 just 4 days after our conference ended.\u00a0 Just a few days before they also found out that their translator couldn’t make it.\u00a0 Guinea Bissau is a Portuguese speaking country, so it added another challenge as they didn’t even know the trade language to help them get around.\u00a0 However they headed out praying that God would provide exactly what they needed.\u00a0 God did exactly that.\u00a0 In the end they were able to accomplish what they needed to do despite the many challenges they faced.\u00a0 He eventually provided the needed translator and they were able to do the research necessary.<\/p>\n

There trip began with an overnight boat ride.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

It was Joel’s first time on this boat which travels to southern Senegal<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
They traveled from there across the border to Bissau<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
As a team they visited multiple villages<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
And also met with people already working there<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
In the villages they spoke with leaders and people of different ages to get a better picture of the realities<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
They spoke with as many people as they could<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
There was significant rain while they were there<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
Which is why it is so beautiful and green there<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
but also made for interesting driving<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
They drove by some interesting sites<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
And got to see aspects of life there<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
Both good and bad<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
On the way back they drove the whole way back up through the Gambia<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
They waited 5 hours for a ferry crossing which is actually a decent crossing<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
They had entertainment while they waited<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
This is the bridge that will someday be finished and will make this crossing way easier!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
We praise God for what they were able to accomplish<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
And pray already for the future work that might one day happen among these people<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
