Just imagine working for years towards to goal of bringing truth to a specific people group.\u00a0 Imagine 2 years of training, years learning french, helping with assessment to find the people group you would work with, moving close and learning the second trade language of the area, building your house and finally being ready to move in a learn the language of the people.\u00a0 Then imagine receiving the news that because of security concerns you are not able to move in.\u00a0 This was the reality of the family were were visiting, but to be honest it is only a drop of their story.\u00a0 We had planned awhile ago to visit this family, but originally the visit was the help them as they transitioned to the village and began learning language.\u00a0 Now the focus of our trip shifted as the news came that they could not move in.\u00a0 We were visiting them because it was a time of grieving and we didn’t want them to be alone.\u00a0 We were visiting because we wanted to keep pressing forward in the work that needed to be done in assessing the security situation.\u00a0 We visited them to help with communication to the elders of their village as to why they were delayed in coming.\u00a0 We were visiting them to help them think through what was next while they waited for the green light to go into the village.<\/p>\n

In many ways it was a hard trip as it is hard to see others grieving.\u00a0 We also didn’t have all the answers and could only help think through ideas.\u00a0 However in other ways it was such a good trip.\u00a0 We had been in contact with them over the phone, but being face to face is so much better.\u00a0 God made it possible for us to bring our kids along which allowed for much more fun than we could bring just ourselves.\u00a0 They were able to take a trip out to their village while I stayed to play with the kids.\u00a0 We spent spare moments talking, processing and praying.<\/p>\n

There are still questions to be answered, but it was a start.\u00a0 There is still grief to process, but that will take time.\u00a0 There is still so much to learn as security concerns are becoming more and more a reality for our field, but we keep pressing forward.\u00a0 This trip was a start, a step on the path, and a reminder of the importance of walking the path together as part of the body of Christ.<\/p>\n

Our trip began with an early morning flight<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

We had 2 flights, a taxi ride, a night at the guesthouse and then a 6 hours bus ride.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

But it was so much better than 3 days on the road like our last trip together<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
Burkina is the land of bikes and motorcycles<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
Men, Woman, children, and babies can all be found on motos and bikes. This is something we don’t see nearly as much in Senegal.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
We stayed with the family were were visiting<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
The boys all slept in one room<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
This little one kept us all on our toes<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
They played lots of games together<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
Board games, card games and video games<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
We went to church with them<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
And met contacts they had in the area<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
Then after our time was up we loaded back up in the bus and took off<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
The buses system there is amazing compared to our area<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
It was hard to say goodbye, but we were grateful for the time we had had<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
Pray for Burkina Faso that things would calm down there<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"\"
Pray for wisdom as we consider how to move forward with those we have working there in the meantime.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
