{"id":744,"date":"2012-03-04T16:11:08","date_gmt":"2012-03-04T16:11:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-mcmartin\/?p=744"},"modified":"2012-03-04T16:11:08","modified_gmt":"2012-03-04T16:11:08","slug":"living-in-a-state-of-readiness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-mcmartin\/2012\/03\/04\/living-in-a-state-of-readiness\/","title":{"rendered":"Living in a State of Readiness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Thursday we met with the pastor of our new church. \u00a0It was an encouraging and challenging meeting. \u00a0Dan, our field leader, accompanied us and laid out for the pastor what he would like our host family and the church to accomplish during our time with them. \u00a0In summary he told the pastor that he wants the church and our host family to help mold us into a family who will be effective ministers to the people of Africa. \u00a0He wants us to become people that the church would be proud to send out and represent them to the villages around. \u00a0It was clear that the pastor was excited but also aware of the seriousness of the task. \u00a0As I was listening to this meeting, I was again reminded of the mountain ahead of us and the dramatic change that this move is going to make on our life. \u00a0Driving home Dan told us that he did what he could to communicate the task ahead, but now it was up to us to convince the church that we really are willing to change and learn. \u00a0I am holding on to the truth that in our weaknesses He is strong, because that is the only way that we will be able to gracefully handle the changes we are about to experience.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_750\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-750\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-mcmartin\/files\/2012\/03\/DSC_4924.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-750\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-mcmartin\/files\/2012\/03\/DSC_4924.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-mcmartin\/files\/2012\/03\/DSC_4924.jpg 500w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-mcmartin\/files\/2012\/03\/DSC_4924-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-750\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">As a family we are seeking God&#039;s strength in the coming weeks<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_751\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-751\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-mcmartin\/files\/2012\/03\/DSC_4926.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-751\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-mcmartin\/files\/2012\/03\/DSC_4926.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-mcmartin\/files\/2012\/03\/DSC_4926.jpg 500w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-mcmartin\/files\/2012\/03\/DSC_4926-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-751\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tyler is already reading in French \ud83d\ude42<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Our life is going to drastically change, but we still don&#8217;t know when this change will take place. \u00a0We are waiting for the call that they have a host family for us and that we can come start looking for a place to move. \u00a0Any day this month we could and should be moving. \u00a0As the days have gone by I have started getting worried about everything coming together. \u00a0So many things still have to fall into place and yet no one here thinks it is crazy for things to come together so quickly. \u00a0I have come to the realization that we just need to be ready. \u00a0We need to be ready to move any day with little or no notice. \u00a0I am learning what it means to be in a state of readiness. \u00a0We are taking steps forward and preparing to move even though at this point we have no where to move to. \u00a0 We are spending our time finishing projects, stocking up on the supplies that can only be found here in the capital, cleaning our place, organizing and packing. \u00a0We are trying to get everything ready so that when the time comes we are ready to just move. God is teaching me that perhaps this is more often how I should be living my life.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_747\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-747\" style=\"width: 333px\"
