Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>It is not a language to learn, it is a life to live.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The more I learn about the process of entering into someone&#8217;s life through their language, the more I am amazed at the size of the task\u00a0 Yet it is also amazing how much it means to people when you truly seek to understand who they are (which means speaking to them in their heart language in a culturally appropriate way).\u00a0 It is a God size task, but we have a God who is big enough.\u00a0 God is at work in powerful ways around the world displaying his wonder through broken people who are willing to serve.\u00a0 I pray that God will continue to mold my family into that type of humble servants.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp mceIEcenter\">\n<figure class=\"wp-caption-text\">Thailand was filled with many great memories<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>During my 2 weeks in Thailand I&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>learned 150 Vietnamese words<\/li>\n<li>was trained to help people through language learning\n<p><figure id=\"attachment_970\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-970\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joel-mcmartin\/files\/2012\/05\/IMG_9156.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-970\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The training was amazing<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>processed through our struggles and successes in language learning.<\/li>\n<li>prayed daily for God to lead us to a good language helper when I returned<\/li>\n<li>was spiritually refreshed<\/li>\n<li>ate more spicy food in two weeks then the rest of my life combined<\/li>\n<li>Acquired a new type of skin rash<\/li>\n<li>filled my luggage with special treats for our family<\/li>\n<li>experienced many small pieces of life in Thailand\n<p><figure id=\"attachment_971\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">One of our trips to the local market<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>was encouraged by the way my body handled the heat.\u00a0 This next hot season is going to be so much better.<\/li>\n<li>greatly missed my family.\u00a0 They sure do bless my life!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The Journey Home<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>My time here has been great, but I am so excited to be heading back to to my family.\u00a0 Saturday I will begin the long journey home, which includes 16 hours of flight time.\u00a0 On Monday we all drive back to our home together.\u00a0 We are very excited to reconnect with our host family and begin to put together the pieces of our life.\u00a0 It will be nice to settle and stay in our home for longer than a week.\u00a0 We are excited, but also aware that the first days of transition are always difficult for us.\u00a0 Please pray for grace and patience as we readjust to life
