Well, I have forgotten many things over the years of my life, but I surely haven&#8217;t forgotten that. I remember when we would head out late at night to get an Oreo blizzard from Dairy Queen. Or when we would sleep in late on a Saturday morning. Or when I enjoyed a delicious vanilla latte without worrying how it will affect my nursing baby. \u00a0Things change as the family grows, and with our firstborn Judah having entered the terrible twos, I turned a tad nostalgic and mused on what the world of motherhood has brought me over the last years&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"color:#008000\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 very, <em>very<\/em> short showers<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"color:#ff6600\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 the great &amp; <em>breath-taking<\/em> miracle of BIRTH<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"color:#666699\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 more knowledge on childhood illnesses than I ever cared to have\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"color:#ff0000\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 being forced to be <strong>selfless<\/strong>\u00a0in so many small, SANCTIFYING ways \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\"><span style=\"color:#993366\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 many hours spent smelling the sweet smell of newborn skin<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ffcc00\">the doubtful privilege of having your name called an average of 200 times a day in voices ranging from joyous to demanding; from heartfelt to pleading<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000080\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 what-to-wear being determined by how nursing-convenient it is<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff\">amazement at how all-consuming the topic of SLEEP can become&#8230;sleep schedules, nap times, why-in-the-world-aren&#8217;t-you-sleeping&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#00ff00\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 a thorough and<em> challenging<\/em> re-evaluation of my PRIORITIES<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008080\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 learning to be <strong>still<\/strong>\u00a0in the midst of chaos<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff0000\">a much deeper and awe-inspiring understanding of the relationship between God as our <strong>FATHER<\/strong> and us as his <strong>CHILDREN<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#000080\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 the realization that the more kids you have, the fewer baths they get<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#993300\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 the beauty of seeing my husband as a <em>DADDY<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff00ff\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0countless and priceless<strong> HUGS &amp; KISSES<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#00ffff\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0turning into a singer\/songwriter specialized in lullabies and ridiculous animal songs \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008000\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 decaf, please.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#800080\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0the weird feeling of having kids while I still feel like I&#8217;m not completely grown up<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#993300\">\u00a0the over-the-top, motherly\u00a0<strong>pride<\/strong> over the littlest of achievements (like Judah&#8217;s new \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0jumping skills and Elias&#8217; discovery of both of his feet) \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#00ff00\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Let. It. Go.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#666699\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0moments of total exhaustion and desperation\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff6600\">learning to accept that my body has been <em>marred and scarred<\/em>, and that it&#8217;s the most <em>beautiful<\/em> thing that could have happened to it<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#33cccc\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 the realization that, sometimes, all you need is a NAP<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#ff0000\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 a new appreciation for my own <strong>mom<\/strong> and mothers around me<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"color:#ff9900\">the ongoing struggle with<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>numbing<strong>\u00a0FEAR<\/strong>\u00a0about what could happen to my children and learning to fully and wholly\u00a0<strong>TRUST GOD<\/strong>, the Father of all who loves my children so much more than I do<\/span><span style=\"color:#cc99ff\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#cc99ff\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0the art of taking <em>deeeeeeeeeeeep breaths<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#0000ff\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0the wondrous world of sleep deprivation<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#008080\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 the <em>deep, <strong>fierce<\/strong>, and powerful<\/em> love only a mother can feel<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>THANKFULNESS<\/strong> that God would choose me &#8212; and so many others around me &#8212; to enter into the<em> high calling<\/em> of motherhood.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color:#993300\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You know how people say that they don&#8217;t remember what life without kids was like?
