That’s “hello” in Russian, in case you were wondering.<\/p>\n

For our CLA Methodology class (CLA = Culture & Language Acquisition), we are\u00a0split up into small groups and get the chance to practice different language learning methods. In our case, we practice by learning Russian! To start off our cultural experience, the missionary couple \u00a0that has been teaching us invited us for a traditional Russian dinner.<\/p>\n

So what was so different about our cultural meal?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

– The men and women sat on different sides of the table across from each other<\/p>\n

– All the napkins were cut into fourths so everyone just got a single sheet of napkin paper<\/p>\n

– You were served more and more food until you made it very<\/em> clear that you don’t want any more (declining 3x should do it)<\/p>\n

– There were no drinks served with dinner<\/p>\n

We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal, the hospitality of our hosts, and all the amazing stories told over sipping hot\u00a0Russian tea with milk…<\/p>\n
