Our Faithful God!

February 7, 2013 by John and Melanie Kerstetter

He did it again!

“Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.”
I Thessalonians 5:24

We have been convinced God called us to this new ministry at New Tribes Missionary Training Center; He has confirmed it to us over and over again. However, when told we needed at least 60% of the recommended support level in order to continue on here, we wondered what God was going to do. We couldn’t see the big picture, but we believed He had led us here and didn’t sense Him leading us to something else. Well, once again, He has proved Himself faithful! November showed our support level still at 55%, but by December 31, 2012 (the deadline given), God had provided the extra thousands of dollars needed in order to bump up our average support level to 61%! We are now officially accepted as staff here! Please praise God with us for this provision and pray with us as we look to God to increase that to 100%!

Matamos saudades! (We “killed homesickness”!)

Praise the Lord, we had a wonderful trip to Brazil over Christmas! It was an incredible opportunity to be back in the beloved country where we left a piece of our hearts a year and a half ago. The purpose of the trip, to take care of business in regards to the sale of our house, thankfully was fulfilled without incident. The highlight of our trip, though, was seeing so many precious American and Brazilian friends, especially our dear, close friends and ex-coworkers, the Albuquerques, who hosted us for our time there. Enjoying food, conversation, and laughter with this family, and seeing our kids completing their “to-do-together list”, was very rewarding. A few of the extras we were blessed with were attending the Brazilian church to worship with our fellow believers, attending a baby shower for dear friends, John preaching at the Brazilian church, and shopping in the city. Our hearts were very full by the time we left. So were our bellies! Enjoying the delicious Brazilian food satisfied our cravings… at least for a while!

zach & Bethany 3She said “YES!”

Another highlight of our trip to Brazil was the engagement of Bethany to Zachary Parker! Long-time family friends (we’ve known Zach’s family since before either of them was born!) and high school sweethearts, they’ve been patiently waiting for God’s timing to move to this next step of their relationship. We are excited to see how God has been leading in their lives individually and we look forward to what God has for them together in the years to come! They’ve set their wedding date for Sunday, May 26, 2013. This isn’t that far away and will make for some busy days as Bethany finishes up her last semester at New Tribes Bible Institute and graduates on May 18th, but Bethany’s close friend is leaving the country on May 31 st, so they wanted to squeeze in the special day before she leaves so she could participate. Please pray for all of us as we make plans and preparations for their big day!

The hunt is on!

We are seriously hunting now for the house of God’s choice for us to buy here in the Roach, MO, area. He knows the desires of our hearts, as well as our needs, and we would ask you to pray with us for God’s wisdom and direction as we search for the house that will best meet the needs for our family and ministry.

Thank you once again for partnering with us through your prayers, encouragement, and financial gifts! We are thankful we are on the same team, serving our faithful God together
