Josh’s Trip to Guatemala

June 28, 2014 by John and Melanie Kerstetter

Dear Friends and Family,

I hope everything is going well with you! I wanted to write to you all again and tell you about my trip to Guatemala and also thank you all once again for all your prayers. We had a very profitable time and I personally learned a lot about worship. Our youth pastor brought his guitar with him so we could sing in the evenings, and I had some spare time to think about what worship really is. It was interesting to dwell on the different types of worship there are and how everybody worships in their own way and expresses themselves through the things they are good at.

Our main project was to work on a new house that was being built for the orphanage children. Our job was to dig a shallow ditch around the house, then fill it with a mixture of sand and cement and compact it all to make it fairly level. This mixture acted as a foundation so that they could later lay down a sidewalk all the way around the house.

As it is their rainy season now, there were often days that we couldn’t get very much work done because of the rain; so we did have the opportunity to go in to the houses with the kids and play with them a couple of times and simply show them the love of our Heavenly Father. We were also able to play quite a bit of soccer with some of the older boys.

So, I would like to thank you one final time for all of your support. It was all very much appreciated and it’s nice to know there are people who are interested in and supportive of my life.

In Him,

Joshua Kerstetter
