{"id":284,"date":"2014-10-01T14:56:02","date_gmt":"2014-10-01T19:56:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/john-kerstetter\/?p=284"},"modified":"2015-06-18T16:06:20","modified_gmt":"2015-06-18T21:06:20","slug":"family-update-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/john-kerstetter\/2014\/10\/01\/family-update-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Our Grandson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our family has had some busy days with everyone&#8217;s comings and goings and new school years beginning.\u00a0 After all the dust settled, we have ended up with 4 family members in Waukesha, WI at New Tribes Bible Institute, 3 family members in Chicago at Moody Bible Institute, and 2 of us are here in Missouri.\u00a0 We are adjusting to an empty nest and thankful our kids are where they are&#8212;right where God wants them to be&#8212;and that they are together in two locations (only 2 hours apart)!<\/p>\n<p>So much has happened over the past few months that it&#8217;s hard to tell about everything, but here is a brief run-down of events:<\/p>\n<p>July 25<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">Melanie <\/span><\/strong>went to Waukesha, WI with<strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"> BJ &amp; Carissa<\/span><\/strong> (after they were with us in Missouri for 5 weeks)<\/p>\n<p>July 31<sup>st<\/sup> \u2013 <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">John<\/span> <\/strong>and <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">Josh<\/span> <\/strong>went to Waukesha, WI<\/p>\n<p>August 1<sup>st<\/sup> \u2013 Bethany&#8217;s due date&#8230;no baby<\/p>\n<p>August 2<sup>nd<\/sup> \u2013 <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">John<\/span> <\/strong>and <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">Josh<\/span><\/strong> helped <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">BJ &amp; Carissa<\/span><\/strong> move to Moody Bible Institute in Chicago<\/p>\n<p>August 5<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">Josh<\/span> <\/strong>went to Michigan for an MK retreat<\/p>\n<p>August 6<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">Charity<\/span> <\/strong>arrived in Waukesha from Chicago for a few days&#8217; visit; our first grandson arrived!<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">Bethany &amp; Zach<\/span><\/strong> welcomed their son,<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_294\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-294\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/john-kerstetter\/files\/2015\/06\/mason-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-294 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/john-kerstetter\/files\/2015\/06\/mason-1-e1434659197167.jpg\" alt=\"Mason at 1 week old\" width=\"200\" height=\"206\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/john-kerstetter\/files\/2015\/06\/mason-1-e1434659197167.jpg 200w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/john-kerstetter\/files\/2015\/06\/mason-1-e1434659197167-107x110.jpg 107w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-294\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mason at 1 week old<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><em><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">Mason Howaul\u00a0 Parker<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">at 2:40 pm on August 6, 2014<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">weighing 8 lbs 9 oz and measuring 22\u201d long<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">[Howaul = Howard + Paul, his two grandpa&#8217;s middle names]<\/p>\n<p>August 8<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">John<\/span> <\/strong>returned to Missouri<\/p>\n<p>August 9<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">Charity<\/span> <\/strong>went back to Chicago; <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">BJ &amp; Carissa<\/span><\/strong> returned to Waukesha for a few days&#8217; visit<\/p>\n<p>August 10<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">Josh<\/span> <\/strong>returned to Waukesha, moved into his dorm room, and had about 4 days of work before the semester began at New Tribes Bible Institute<\/p>\n<p>August 13<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">BJ &amp; Carissa<\/span><\/strong> went back to Chicago; <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">Charity<\/span> <\/strong>(as a member of the MuKappa leadership team) began preparations for the MK Orientation at Moody<\/p>\n<p>August 14<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Zach&#8217;s parents and sister arrived in Waukesha to meet <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">Mason<\/span> <\/strong>and visit<\/p>\n<p>August 16<sup>th<\/sup>\u201319<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">Charity, BJ &amp; Carissa<\/span><\/strong> had the MK Orientation at Moody<\/p>\n<p>August 17<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">Josh<\/span> <\/strong>had registration and a welcome\/kick-off at NTBI; <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">Melanie<\/span> <\/strong>returned to Missouri with Zach&#8217;s family<\/p>\n<p>August 18<sup>th<\/sup>-19<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">Josh<\/span> <\/strong>had Orientation at NTBI; <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">Zach &amp; Bethany<\/span><\/strong> began the new semester, continuing on staff at NTBI (although Bethany was still on maternity leave)<\/p>\n<p>August 18<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Kick-off and welcome at the Missionary Training Center for <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">John &amp; Melanie<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>August 19<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Orientation and classes began at MTC for<strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"> John &amp; Melanie<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>August 20<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">Josh<\/span> <\/strong>started classes at NTBI; <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">BJ &amp; Carissa<\/span><\/strong> continued with regular Orientation at Moody<\/p>\n<p>August 25<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 <strong><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">Charity, BJ &amp; Carissa<\/span><\/strong> started classes at Moody<\/p>\n<p>We are thankful that Bethany&#8217;s labor and delivery went smoothly at the birth center assisted by the midwives there.\u00a0 Because Melanie arrived a week before Bethany&#8217;s due date (August 1<sup>st<\/sup>), she was able to help with some final preparations for Mason&#8217;s arrival.\u00a0 She thoroughly enjoyed being there for special bonding time with Mason and for helping with meals, laundry, cleaning, etc.\u00a0 We are so thankful that Mason was born a day and a half before John had to leave, so John had a little time with him.\u00a0 Charity, BJ &amp;
