Hi! We are Jon, Adie, Jaeden, Levi and Jace Leedahl. Jon is a helicopter and airplane pilot and we’ve been serving with New Tribes Mission Aviation in Papua New Guinea since March 2014.
JON grew up in a Christian home on a North Dakota ranch. After a life-changing accident at the age of 12, Jon asked God to show Jon what to do with his life. At fifteen years old, Jon received his first introductory flight in an airplane and dedicated his newfound piloting skill to God. He spent years as a flight instructor, doing glacier tours, crop dusting, and flying a med-evac helicopter for a hospital. Jon went to Papua New Guinea in 2003 for 6 weeks to visit friends and see the work going on with New Tribes Mission.
ADIE grew up in a Christian home in Honolulu, Hawaii. Even though she came to know God at a young age, Adie gave her life to God at 20 years old. Being raised in a large family in a tropical location helped prepare Adie to be flexible, move often, and love living the island life.
Adie travels with Jon on his many adventures around the US. She enjoys their gypsy life and homeschools their 3 boys: Jaeden, Levi and Jace. (Check out what’s new with The Fellas.) Adie loves photography, flower arranging, and event planning. Fun fact: Adie is also a twin!
Jon learned early on in his aviation career about New Tribes Mission Aviation, a missions organization flying church-planting missionaries around the world. His heart’s desire is to support missionaries overseas by being their “wings,” flying into remote places that can only be reached by aircraft.
We have been training with New Tribes Mission since 2012. Our journey started with church-planting missionary classes at the Mission Training Center in Roach, MO. Jon received Tech Specialist Training and he’s finishing up with flight training with New Tribes Mission Aviation in McNeal, AZ and Quest Kodiak training with JAARS.
