This Little Light of Mine

April 4, 2007 by

This Little Light of Mine

Whenever we arrive back in the village we try to get our routines going as fast as possible. Heidi gets back to home-schooling and I get busy preparing to teach the following Sunday and continue working on the translation project. But, when the village is holding a big event, we are expected to be there so we put our jobs aside and take time to enjoy being with our friends. Yesterday was the elementary school’s closing program and graduation. It was fun to see all the kids dressed up and doing their parts. The event that really kept us sitting on the edge of our seats was the special number “This Little Light of Mine.” We were packed into the room like sardines and suddenly, several kids produced flaming torches. We thought for sure someone would be burnt, but the song ended safely.
