Project Dedication and School Opening

June 13, 2014 by Jonathan and Heidi Bamford

After Thomas’ graduation we traveled north to take part in our village school’s opening program and to celebrate the completion of the covered play area project.

Pastor Bruce from Westwood Baptist Church came over to take part in the program and has been a blessing in many ways.

Crystal and Ruth (not pictured here), staff members at Faith Academy, and Ruth’s daughter, Christy also joined us.  They spent several hours helping us prepare bags of school supplies for the school children.

The Isnag children are very happy to have a covered play area and some sports equipment to play with.

Our Isnag friends dressed up in their native attire and did many things to make the program special and our guests feel welcome.

Pastor Bruce gave the community an encouraging talk about God’s goodness.

The Isnag gave the lady visitors necklaces and baskets and gave our men visitors machetes.

Werner, Ruth, Thomas, and Vicky helping to pass out school supplies to the Isnag children.  We moved into the village when Thomas was 3 years old.  He has been away at high school for 3 years and it was a special treat for the Isnag to have an opportunity to see him again.

Werner, one of our NTM leaders, and his wife, Maricel, also participated in the program.

Toward the end of the program it started to rain, but because we have a wonderful covered play area, the rain wasn’t a distraction. We estimate that we had about 250 people under the roof  and there was room for more.  Thank you Westwood Summer Hummer kids and parents!!
