Crazy Mother’s Day

May 14, 2017 by Jonathan and Heidi Bamford

When I say that it was a Crazy Mother’s Day, I don’t mean a special day for crazy mothers, or that mothers are crazy. I mean that our first week back in the village has not been normal and that includes Mother’s Day. I just want to be clear about that.

We needed to call three medical flights last week. One was for one of the grandmothers here who was badly dehydrated and two were for men who fell. One fell from a tree and his arm was badly broken and his back was injured. The other fell from a balcony and hit his head and injured his neck.

Three times in a row we were so thankful that the helicopter could come and take these folks out to a hospital to get the help they desperately needed. We are also thankful that our co-worker Vicky has had EMT training and knows how to transport people with serious injuries.

We often write about how much we appreciate our pilots, but our pilot’s wives are just as important. Yesterday, on their Mother’s Day, they were skipping family time, skipping church, flight following, and arranging the ambulance for our patient. They do so many things, like helping with the children at conference and hosting visitors. Happy Mother’s Day, Katherine, Jane, and Ronalyn. You are appreciated.

Prayer Requests:
Please pray for healing and good medical care for the three patients who flew out.
Please pray that God will bless our pilot’s wives and help them as they homeschool, flight follow and do many other things.

Thank you for your prayers!
God bless,
Jonathan & Heidi
