I spent last week doing the tedious job of working through the editing remarks that the translation consultants made when they checked the book of Romans last February. It isn’t that glamorous, so I don’t take many selfies of myself hunched over the computer. My intent was to take pictures of our co-workers who work hard in many ways to allow me time to work on the translation. My first photo was to be of David teaching on Sunday morning. I made it to church. I even had my camera in hand, but somehow, I failed to take a picture of David. It might have to do with suddenly realizing that worship teams everywhere seem to be getting younger and younger. I noticed it when I was in the USA, but it seems to me that, here in the Philippines, we are on the cutting edge of the movement.
After surveying the worship team, I sat down near the back in order to have a good vantage point to take a picture of David. Unfortunately, I totally forgot to get a picture of him. I lay the blame totally on the baby sitting beside me. I may not be good at completing picture taking goals, but I was a good listener. David’s message was excellent.
I finally did manage to get a picture of a co-worker. One out of three. Vicky has started teaching literacy and her students are happy to be learning to read and write. A huge amount of prep work went into making the literacy program which wouldn’t have happened without Vicky’s determination. On that note, I had better get back to working on Romans so that these folks will have something great to read when they graduate. Prayer Requests: * Please pray for David as he prepares and teaches through the book of Acts. * Please pray that many here will desire to live for the Lord. * Please pray that the literacy students will stick with the lessons and become competent readers who will be able to enjoy reading the Bible on their own. * Please thank the Lord for giving us co-workers to serve alongside us. Thank you for your prayers! God bless, Jonathan & Heidi
