{"id":1034,"date":"2017-10-18T22:43:46","date_gmt":"2017-10-19T02:43:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/jonathan-heidi-bamford\/?p=1034"},"modified":"2017-10-20T20:40:06","modified_gmt":"2017-10-20T12:40:06","slug":"what-did-you-hear","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/jonathan-heidi-bamford\/2017\/10\/18\/what-did-you-hear\/","title":{"rendered":"What did you Hear?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div class=\"WordSection1\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/?attachment_id=30354\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-30354\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2017\/10\/img-01-1-600x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoPlainText\">Every once and a while I mention that I\u2019m working on the recording draft.\u00a0 Last time I did that, someone asked if I distribute the recordings.\u00a0 It occurred to me that I should give a bit of explanation.\u00a0 My translation process involves many steps and the recording draft is the third step.\u00a0 The purpose is to answer the question, \u201cWhat do you understand when you hear these verses?\u201d\u00a0 The translation helpers listen to a paragraph and then tell me what they understood.\u00a0 I record what they say and look for misunderstandings, better choice of words, ability to move smoothly from one concept to the next, and for things that do not stand out enough to be remembered. It is very easy to make cross cultural mistakes and the recording process helps us see what needs to be improved.\u00a0 Last week my faithful helpers recorded the book of Ephesians for me.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/?attachment_id=30355\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-30355\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2017\/10\/IMG-10-1-600x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoPlainText\">Speaking of language helpers, I have a new one.\u00a0 She hasn\u2019t started helping with recording yet.\u00a0 She is more of a consultant.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/?attachment_id=30356\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-30356\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/wp-content\/blogs.dir\/1\/files\/2017\/10\/img-121-1-600x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoPlainText\">Do you ever comment online and then wish you hadn\u2019t?\u00a0 A few weeks ago, I made a comment on someone\u2019s post about getting in the right position to take a good photo.\u00a0 I wish I hadn\u2019t because it turned out it was sort of like a first-year piano student making suggestions to a concert pianist.\u00a0 That is why I am a bit shy to make any more comments about positioning for a good photo online, but in this case, I\u2019m pretty sure the subject should be in front of the camera.\u00a0 But, I won\u2019t be surprised if the butterfly comments, \u201cWhat you say is true, but you had the aperture set all wrong and I was correcting it.\u201d\u00a0 I knew I should have kept my mouth shut.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoPlainText\">Prayer Requests:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"MsoPlainText\">In the near future, Heidi and I will be making a quick trip to town.\u00a0 We have several jobs that need to be done during the week that we are out.\u00a0 Please pray that we will be able to accomplish the tasks on our list.<\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoPlainText\">We are excited to be able to spend some time with our co-workers in town and some of them are going to join us on a trip we will be making down to the Ifugao area.<\/li>\n<li class=\"MsoPlainText\">Praise: This past week the village water system and the clinic generator broke down, but praise the Lord the repairs were accomplished without too much difficulty.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"MsoPlainText\">Thank you for your prayers!<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoPlainText\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 God bless,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoPlainText\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Jonathan &amp;
