{"id":875,"date":"2016-07-03T23:10:16","date_gmt":"2016-07-04T03:10:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/jonathan-heidi-bamford\/?p=875"},"modified":"2016-07-04T11:19:12","modified_gmt":"2016-07-04T03:19:12","slug":"lipugpug-noun-a-circular-wind-storm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/jonathan-heidi-bamford\/2016\/07\/03\/lipugpug-noun-a-circular-wind-storm\/","title":{"rendered":"lipugpug: noun, a circular wind storm."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We have had a few weeks of very little rain and have had to carry some of<br \/>\nour water in buckets from the river, so last Thursday afternoon when I<br \/>\nlooked up from translation checking and saw black clouds on the hills to the<br \/>\neast I thought, &#8220;I hope that rain comes here!&#8221; I didn&#8217;t know what I was<br \/>\nasking for.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/?attachment_id=25123\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-25123\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/files\/2016\/07\/1-600x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600px\" height=\"400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Within a few minutes it started raining very hard and Heidi went downstairs<br \/>\nand very quickly had 100 gallons of rain water in our water barrels. We<br \/>\nwere just settling down to enjoy the coolness that the rain had brought when<br \/>\nthe wind changed directions and started blowing in the windows. We rushed<br \/>\nto close the shutters, but the wind was snapping off tree branches and<br \/>\nhurling them against the side of the house making it difficult to secure the<br \/>\nshutters. The storm only lasted 5 minutes, but what a mess it made. We had<br \/>\nwater in the house, trees were down all over the place, and the village<br \/>\nwater system was damaged.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/?attachment_id=25124\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-25124\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/files\/2016\/07\/2-600x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600px\" height=\"400px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Because it was dusk, I waited until morning to go get pictures, but to my<br \/>\nsurprise, our industrious neighbors has already chopped up most of the<br \/>\nfallen trees. My partner, David, and I made several trips up the water line<br \/>\nmaking repairs, and yesterday afternoon, with the help of several Isnag men,<br \/>\nwe made the last big repair and water started flowing to the village again.<\/p>\n<p>I see some clouds on the hills to the east, but it&#8217;s okay with me if they<br \/>\nstay over there.<\/p>\n<p>Prayer Requests:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Thank the Lord that in spite of the trees blowing down and sheets of tin<br \/>\nroofing blowing around, no one was injured by the storm.<\/li>\n<li>We haven&#8217;t heard from Letty, but a group from here went upstream to<br \/>\nPerlita&#8217;s house and was able to encourage her. Please continue to pray for<br \/>\ntheir healing.<\/li>\n<li>Thank you for praying for Zach, our pilot.
