Our MTC Youth Retreat at camp MOCOMI came and went very quickly! We had a fantastic weekend hanging out with around 40 teenagers. The weather was chilly and wet the first evening but the rest of the weekend was at least dry. Our theme this year was Everlasting Treasure….NOW! What an encouragement and challenge to realize that we do not have to wait until we get to heaven to take advantage of all God has given us in Jesus Christ. We were really blessed to have our own MTC students as leaders who took time out of their very busy schedules to invest in the lives of our young people.
Besides planned activities between sessions we enjoyed a Saturday evening dinner party which revolved around the movie “National Treasure”. It was a lot of fun seeing most everyone come dressed in late 1700 fashion. It is amazing to see how creative our kids can be.
This was our ninth retreat at MOCOMI and it was bitter sweet considering it was our last. Next year at this time we are trusting the Lord to be in Mozambique. We will certainly miss our youth group but we are confident that they will be in very capable hands. We are also praying that God will allow us to be used in the lives of young people in Mozambique whether Africans or ex pat Missionary Kids. Please keep praying as we continue to make plans, trusting our gracious heavenly Father to raise up ministry partners to help get us over to Africa and sustain us.
