Home…Where the Buffalo Roam

February 21, 2011 by Jonathan and Lisa Parker

Hey, Come Back!
Hey, Come Back!

Saturday afternoon I received a call from my brother and when he asked what I was up to I said matter-of-factly “I am out on the prairie”.  We had just spent time out on the prairie with our friends Brian & Gayla who live at and manage the Prairie State Park here in Missouri.  Though the scenery was not quite as beautiful as it would be in the spring and summer we did enjoy our tour, especially getting a chance to see a herd of Buffalo close up. Brian did his best to get us close to the herd and in doing so spooked them.  They would have left us in their dust if it hadn’t been so muddy.

Our reason for being on the prairie was more than just a friendly visit. Brian & Gayla invited us to share with their church, Grace Place, about the new ministry God is leading us to in Mozambique.  Our hearts were encouraged and refreshed by their willingness to pray for us and even to share financially with us. We went hoping to be a blessing and encouragement to them but as is the case many times, we were the ones that came away encouraged to keep pressing on in obedience to God’s calling.  Thank you Brian and Gayla for your hospitality and thank you Grace Place for the opportunity to share and enjoy sweet fellowship in our Lord Jesus Christ.
