Road to RSA

April 28, 2013 by Jonathan and Lisa Parker

We made the 2,300 kilometer trip from Mozambique to South Africa in 3 days. Each day we started by 5:30 am for the cooler temperatures and to make sure we did not have to travel in the dark. Our main objective for the trip was to get our co-worker’s Land Cruiser to South Africa for maintenance and repairs without ADDING anything to the list. Since it was our first major road trip in Mocambique we were glad to be joined with our co-workers Fernando & Tabitha who went along to visit family in RSA. It was a great opportunity to get to see the southern part of the country. Except for several stretches with lots of large pot holes the trip went well. Thought we would share a few photos of our 3 days on the road.

One of the several "pick-a-pot" stretches of road.

Thankful for some smooth sections as well....

First night accomodations.

Surprised that both lanes of traffic were not blocked off for hours...

Anyone need a bag of charcoal?

Must be the sound men for the party down the road...

Fresh roasted cashew nuts anyone? No that is not how they grow...

We were fortunate to be small enough to pass this accident on a long bridge....

South Africa at last...
