During our last visit over a year ago we enjoyed singing some of the old hymns together. I can imagine how much she is enjoying worship around the throne even now!

I know Violet left a huge legacy but I am so thankful for the impact she had in our particular lives and ministry. She has had a special place for missions in her heart for years which was evidenced in the ways she partnered with us:

She was faithful to pray for us. When we last visited she showed us her prayer notebook that she used often because she had to spend so much time in her recliner.

She stayed connected through letters and e-mails. It went from snail mail letters to electronic mail but we always enjoyed getting an update from Violet with encouraging words. They will be missed.

She gave financially. A few years ago we received a note from Violet letting us know that she wanted to start sending us monthly support which she has done faithfully ever since.

This final note from Violet that we received just over a month ago will give you an idea of what I am talking about…

Dear Lisa and Jonathan,

Received your letter and what a surprise to hear that you are going to Africa. Don’t expect me to come and visit!! Many years ago a missionary asked me if I would go back to Grenada to help her pack to come home as her husband was sick and had to leave Grenada. I had never been in a plane or away from my family but my family urged me to go as I would never have another chance to go. So I went for three weeks. Have always been glad I went. Visited in Barbados and met some other missionaries.
