Our 7:30 arrival gave Elayne and Titus time to run off energy on the playground before bed, making life easier for Mom and Dad too. Today&#8217;s drive was only eight hours to yesterday&#8217;s ten, and the next two days will clock in at just under six apiece. The kids are already looking forward to tomorrow&#8217;s promise of a later start, longer breaks, and (weather permitting) pool time!<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>A few highlights from the day&#8217;s drive:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Coffee. <em>(Yes, this counts as a highlight on its own! But doubly so since purchased at the same place I visited with my Dad when driving home from Missouri in May.)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Both kids napping at the same time!<\/li>\n<li>Our cupholder breaking, only two days after getting it installed! <em>(We think it might be repairable, fortunately)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>A toll road that didn&#8217;t have a toll&#8230; ONLY on the PRECISE exit we needed to take!<\/li>\n<li>Arriving while the sun was still up&#8230; the most amazing red color, too, thanks to all the smog!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>However, if you know me very well, then you probably already know what the true highlight of the day was: a text from my good friend Matt, informing me that King Felix had thrown a perfect game for the Seattle Mariners. \ud83d\ude42 (If you hadn&#8217;t heard&#8230; go to <a href=\"http:\/\/mlb.mlb.com\/mlb\/gameday\/index.jsp?gid=2012_08_15_tbamlb_seamlb_1&amp;mode=recap_home&amp;c_id=sea\" title=\"Felix Hernandez's perfect game\" target=\"_blank\">THIS LINK<\/a>, read the article, and watch the video.) I&#8217;ve been a Mariners fan my entire life, and hearing that Felix shut down 27 consecutive Rays <em>definitely<\/em> made my day!<\/p>\n<p>All in all, Amy and I are very grateful to the Lord for a second consecutive easy travel day.
