Christmas is my favorite time of year. Family gatherings, favorite traditions, and tempting cookie trays all come out… enjoyable in and of themselves, yet reminding us over and again of the Reason why such ongoing celebration is warranted: the Christ child, “born to die, to set us free.”<\/em> As the prophet Micah wrote:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,<\/em>
though you are small among the clans of Judah,
out of you will come for Me
one who will be ruler over Israel,
whose origins are from of old,
from ancient times…<\/em>

…He will stand and shepherd His flock
in the strength of the LORD,
in the majesty of the Name of the LORD His God.
And they will live securely, for then His greatness
will reach to the ends of the earth.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A quick update: life and ministry in Chihuahua are going well. Jordan’s work as the field’s IT coordinator is off to a good start: there have been good opportunities to support coworkers both here and in tribal church plant locations, and he is developing new software training and tools for simplifying aspects of their ministries in the years to come. In 2023, he will help at the shorthanded MK school by teaching a high school math course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amy’s health continues to slowly improve: her need for excess sleep is diminishing, and in daily life she has increased energy and greater capacity. Our kids are doing well both academically and socially, and love life here in Chihuahua! Food intolerances became a larger pain (literally!) when we returned to Mexico, but some strict dietary changes have greatly relieved much of that discomfort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the New Year almost here, we are preparing for some important meetings near the end of January. Once those have concluded, we expect to turn our attention to what comes next: seeking the Lord’s leading regarding long-term ministry roles for our family – how we may best serve Him in making Jesus known among least-reached people groups. We are grateful for your prayer with us in these areas, and look forward to seeing how He directs in the years to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We wish you a Merry Christmas, and a happy New Year!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
