Wow, we’ve been in the states for almost two months now and our baby boy is due in just 3 weeks! Time sure is flying. I wanted to thank you all for your prayers as we packed up our home in Central Java, shipped our stuff to Papua and made our long trip back to California. Our flights went smoothly and, even though the planes were full, they were able to move people around so we could all sit together. We were able to spend a week at the home of Bethany’s parents in Simi Valley before heading up to Eureka. We got to Eureka just in time to join our church at the lake for a week of Family Camp.
Lately we have been able to spend time with family and friends and do some fun things that we missed while in Asia Pacific. Bethany has been able to get in for doctor’s appointments and although she is pretty uncomfortable, the baby seems really healthy. We have been staying with my parents, and Nicole and Ella just love helping out with chores around the farm and playing with all the animals! I’ve been working construction part time to help supplement our income. Over the past year we have lost close to $800 a month in regular support and although we’ve gained $300/mo. we are still down quite a bit. God has been good and provided for us through surprise one time gifts from many of you! We averaged about 87% of our recommended support while in Asia pacific, but what is coming in on a consistent monthly basis now is only about 55-60%. Please be praying with us about that. We do want thank every one of you who has given towards our ministry over the past few years- you are such a blessing to us!
While we are in Eureka, we would love to catch up with any of you who have time to get together. We plan to be here until early December. We will also be presenting our ministry and giving updates on our past year in Asia Pacific at a few churches in the next couple months: Pelican Bay EV Free in Crescent City on Sept. 28, Damascus Street Chapel in Eureka on Oct. 26. and Grace Church of Santa Rosa on Nov. 9. We won’t be able to speak at many more churches though because of how short this furlough is and the birth of the baby right in the middle of it. We have tickets to return to Asia Pacific on the 9th of December. Upon our return, we will be moving to the Island of Papua where we will continue our national language study and begin looking for a people group to work among. Thank you all for praying for us,
-Josh, Bethany, Nicole, Ella, and baby Weeks
