When God is working…

August 19, 2020 by Joshua and Tamara Mathew

August is cranking by, isn’t it?  It seems funny the way summer seemed to take forever to get here with the way “spring” got started, but now that the fall is on the horizon time seems to be speeding up!  Thank God that at least He is constant.

July was spent doing a lot of planning and organizing lists, it seems.  We did have some good conversations with folks about what God is doing with us for the next year, and it has been encouraging to see God work through people that were outside of the circles that we expected!  We are finding old friends and rekindling relationships.  God has been so faithful to keep His work in the hearts and minds of His church!  This time continues to be encouraging to me as we continue to see Him work in His ways to see the Gospel of Christ taken the unreached!  Keep more of these new relationships in your prayers, please!

August started off with our annual “get away.”  We disconnected from the normal Jackson life and hid out in the country!  It kind of reminded me of when Elijah hid in the wilderness and God sent ravens with food for him…  We however, were only afraid for our lives when that derecho storm passed by and the sky turned amazing colors!  We WERE able to spend some time visiting with some financial supporters and prayer partners who really understand what is at stake when missionaries are not fully equipped to minister.  They were (and will continue to be!) a real shot of encouragement to keep pressing on with this ministry partner development phase.

This morning finds us back in the swing of things and trying to set meet-ups for this fall, get the kids ready for whatever passes for school this fall, and us ready to move into Alumni Coaching in Waukesha by August 2021.

Many of you have asked what the status is on the tooth issue.  Through some more of God’s people, I’ve been connected to a “friend-odontist,”  an endodontist that sounds thrilled to make a place for me in his schedule and “help me get that taken care of.”  To those of you that have offered $$, I promise I am not trying to steal your blessing, but I just don’t know what the out of pocket expense will be yet!  Keep praying that the details would work out smoothly.  You guys have been such a blessing in this!

Final prayer request for this update:  We are SUPER APPRECIATIVE of your financial generosity and faithful prayer.  Would you please talk to God about how we can partner with more people like you, that would be able to join all of us, as we move into the next years?  We are especially hoping that you guys can connect us with friends and pray-ers that we can count on!  I know it’s a big request, and I know that God is even bigger.

That’s about it, nothing else super fancy to include, just yet.  We’re updating prayer cards, so you can see what we currently look like.  This may not help us out, in the long run… I’ve kinda let myself go, but God has blessed me with adorable children, and a beautiful wife!  I’ll let you guys be the judge of whether or not I should be included on the prayer card! 😊 Again, if you have questions, don’t hesitate to call.
