December is upon us, it’s almost come to pass, the season of the year that in our minds should last, and last.
That Christ has come is all year true, His ageless gift for me and for you. God’s love displayed in smallest form, come to earth again in stable warm. The spotless lamb, the promised one, messiah, king, humbled, to be born.
We celebrate by giving gifts and making time. We may gather and enjoy some pie.
Some will sing and some will play, oh this should be a blessed day!
Yet all too soon that time will pass, with coats to find and bags to pack. Away we’ll hurry, back to life. The highways busy, the traffic fast. Schedules beckon, bosses task. New Year projects and too soon, summer plans. Just a little while and then there’s spring, and already it seems we’ve missed the deadlines and scrambled the scenes.
Where was it that December went? Did we really do all that for just one month?
What happened to that baby boy of whose birth we so sweetly sang?
Have we pushed Him away too quick?
How will His birth change your world?
