Last Wednesday, I went in to have “something checked out.” On Thursday, the doctor said I needed to see the urologist “right away.” Then,\u00a0 on Friday, I was told by “my urologist” that since there is a 98% chance that I’ve got what appears to be testicular cancer, I’ll be having outpatient surgery tomorrow morning to remove the mass and surrounding, ahem, “tissue.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Prognosis is generally EXCELLENT for this kind, with a high recovery rate, but we won’t know more until they’ve biopsied the mass.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The timing of this update has been somewhat delicate since Emma has been away serving at Camp Barakel and I’m not sure how she’s going to respond to the “Dad is in the hospital, and probably has cancer.” news from miles away.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
I’d greatly appreciate your prayers for wisdom and patience for our family as we sort through the details as they come in. I’d also greatly appreciate your thoughts as I try to figure out what (if anything) this means for our family in ministry at EBI.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
I’m not sure, at this point, that it means anything other than a couple days out of the office with an ice bag (or 12) as my dearest friend.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Emma gets back from camp tomorrow, and I’d like to keep the news on the proverbial “down-low” until Tamara and I get a chance to talk to her.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
