Right before I was scheduled to go back to Mexico after Christmas, I injured my knee and had to go to the doctor. He advised that I get things thourougly checked out before heading back, so here I am…still in Florida, getting things checked out. Xrays showed that I might have something broken off and “floating” around behind my knee cap, causing pain and making my knee “lock up.” After that I was sent to get an MRI, which I like to refer to as a $500 nap. My friend Sarah suggested that unless there was a good lookin’ guy giving me a massage, I overpaid. My next appointment is Thursday, when the doctor will let me know if I need surgery or not. Please pray for wisdom and patience as I figure this out. I want to be wise in fixing things before I’m back in the tribe with no medical options.

Perfect Provider
I continue to be amazed at God’s care in this. It happened while I was in the U.S. and could easily get to medical help, the airline was super gracious in allowing me to change my return date to an open-ended ticket, and God has provided great doctors in the area. Thank you again for your prayers.

Changes of Plans
I am not the only one on the team to change plans for returning to Mexico. The Alkires were also held up with medical problems and Dan is currently seeing a doctor for back pain that has been plaguing him. Elkins were held up at the border on their way back from furlough, and Rachel’s flight plans were affected by her teammates changing their plans. We are eager to be back with the people, and working on the house construction. We have a dental clinic and a roofing team scheduled for February, and there are many things that need to happened before that. Pray that we will be patient as God unfolds things in his time.

Substitute Teachers
As I am currently separated from all five of my students, I praise God that Tasha and Sarah are able to continue homeschooling and filling in for the role I volunteered for. Part of being a team is doing whatever job is in front of us when necessary. Pray for these two moms as they do this difficult job. It might be good to pray for their kids, as well!

Plenty of Prayer
I noticed I repeated the phrase “please pray for” many times in the above paragraphs. Repetition many not be a great writing technique, but it is necessary in the Christian life. We thank you for your repetitious and continued prayers for our team and the Nahuatl people. We rely on our extended team members to support us in this way and appreciate that we can count on you for that.

Knee Knocking Around Just wanted to write a quick note and update you on what’s happening with me.
