{"id":234,"date":"2015-02-24T14:18:23","date_gmt":"2015-02-24T19:18:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/kenneth-jack\/?p=234"},"modified":"2015-02-24T14:18:23","modified_gmt":"2015-02-24T19:18:23","slug":"christmas-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/kenneth-jack\/2015\/02\/24\/christmas-update\/","title":{"rendered":"Christmas Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_235\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-235\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/kenneth-jack\/files\/2015\/02\/Summer-2014-115.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-235\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/kenneth-jack\/files\/2015\/02\/Summer-2014-115-300x206.jpg\" alt=\"Church Visits\" width=\"300\" height=\"206\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/kenneth-jack\/files\/2015\/02\/Summer-2014-115-300x206.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/kenneth-jack\/files\/2015\/02\/Summer-2014-115-600x412.jpg 600w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/kenneth-jack\/files\/2015\/02\/Summer-2014-115.jpg 902w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-235\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Church Visits<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Dear Family and Friends,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 December 2014<\/p>\n<p>The Lord keeps bringing to mind this verse Andrea has been teaching the little ones:\u00a0 \u201cRejoice evermore.\u00a0 Pray without ceasing.\u00a0 In everything give thanks.\u201d\u00a0 (1 Thess. 5:16-18)\u00a0 In the midst of life\u2019s ups and downs there is always so much to be thankful for!<\/p>\n<p>The big event this year was traveling across the country to visit supporters and grandparents.\u00a0 After four+ years away we had hoped to see even more people, but got a little overwhelmed with so much time on the road&#8211;Ken drove 10,000 miles in seven weeks!\u00a0 \u00a0In between weekend meetings with churches, the kids got to see the Creation Museum, Carlsbad Caverns, the Pacific Northwest, and Yellowstone.\u00a0 What awesome, vast expanses!\u2014they bear mute testimony to the Great Flood.<\/p>\n<p>Ken and I were thankful to find side jobs when we got back, as our savings had gone into the big trip.\u00a0 Ken does odd jobs for people around town, and Andrea took on a light cleaning job three evenings a week at an office building nearby.\u00a0 (Supplementing is part of being a stateside missionary\u2014few families have 100% of their support.)<\/p>\n<p>We are really thankful to be in our 14<sup>th<\/sup> year with New Tribes Mission, the latter half at New Tribes Bible Institute here in south-central Michigan. \u00a0Andrea still works with little ones so moms can be in classes; children\u2019s ministries at church are growing too\u2014most of the new kids are being brought by grandparents, or walking in from the neighborhood.\u00a0 Ken serves in the dining hall at the Bible College and teaches\/preaches occasionally through our local church and a weekly prison ministry.\u00a0 We feel privileged to be raising our kids around 150+ young adults and families who are excited and eager to be a part of what God is doing around the world!<\/p>\n<p>The kids have a few milestones to report.\u00a0 James (13) has passed up his mother in height, and Samuel (5) started kindergarten at the same school as his sisters. \u00a0James exchanged last year\u2019s homeschooling for a small charter school.\u00a0 Tap is providing an outlet for Christina\u2019s (11) boundless energy, and Sarah (9) helped do her own fundraising to be able to take Irish Dance and Violin lessons.<\/p>\n<p>We are thankful to have so many friends both nearby and across the country.\u00a0 Most of all we are thankful for our God and Savior who forgives our sins and whose incarnation we celebrate each December;
