After serving the Lord in Brazil at the school for missionaries’ children for 30 years we are now in a new ministry in Sanford, Florida.
We are serving the Lord in a ministry at New Tribes Mission’s Retirement Center called NTM Homes. Our hearts are so thankful to see what a lovely place God has provided for His children that have served Him for many years. Most of the retirees have been involved in contacting tribal groups, learning their language, and translating God’s Word in to the tribal language. Now that they are retired from the foreign field they are involved in serving God in whatever capacity they can. Visiting the shut-ins, AWANA, prison ministry, Bible clubs, and praying are some of the ways we see them working for Him. NTM Homes also has a facility called the Latham Center where those who need more help can live. One wing has assisted living and the other independent living.
Les and I are in charge of the food service department of the Latham Center. We currently feed 12- 18 residents along with occasional guests. Besides cooking we do the buying and cleaning, provide a listening ear for residents and help them with needs as we are able. There are always opportunities to be an encouragement to them as they face the challenges of growing old.
We are also involved in an adult Bible Study group of various of ages from our church. Les participates on the church’s softball team. These activities provide a chance to minister to others and to be ministered to.
