A fly on the wall…

September 23, 2013 by Levi and Robyn Lenz

Three Sundays ago as I walked over to our teaching house. When I got there I saw a crowd of people gathered near Kunjin’s house. Kunjin and Wirol (both believers) were in the middle of the group and were passing the Pidgin Bible back and forth as they were carrying on some deep conversation with those gathered around them. I heard them telling the people, “…this is what we used to believe, but this is not what the Bible says…this is the true way…” I didn’t catch all they said as i didn’t want to get too close and interrupt a good thing. Mare, another believer, came over a little bit later and joined in the discussion.

A short time later, I had gone into the teaching house to start getting things ready and Kunjin came to me and said, “There’s a lot of new people here today who haven’t heard any of this talk, let’s not do a new lesson. Let’s go back and review some of the Course 1 lessons with them.” I told him that was a great idea, the three of them could do a review. So, Kunjin started off with God making everything and how Adam and Eve disobeyed by stealing and eating the fruit God had told them not to eat. He expressly mentioned that it is not a ‘talk picture’ of Adam and Eve being intimate with each other as they has formerly been taught. Then went on to explain how they tried to hide and cover their own sin with the leaves but God killed an animal, shed its blood, and put the skins on them, and how this showed that it was by the shedding of blood that sins are forgiven.  When Kunjin was finished, both Mare and Wirol each took turns strengthening each other’s talk and sharing some of the Old Testament stories we’ve taught them and how they all point to Christ as being the Redeemer, the only way to be made right with God. It was truly a blessing to be able to be simply a ‘fly on the wall’ and watch the Holy Spirit use these men to challenge others for Christ!
