Since our return to Papua New Guinea in mid-August, I, Levi, have been able to make a couple trips back into the village where we work. The drive from our support center to our village location is about 100 miles (160 km) and takes about 4 \u00bd hours to drive there. If you\u2019re doing the math, that makes an average of just over 22 mph for the trip! Distance isn\u2019t the issue, but the \u201croad\u201d conditions are to blame for the slow progress. There are often large ruts in the road caused by rain and we\u2019re not really even into the rainy season yet which results in landslides!<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

We are currently searching for a reliable vehicle to use in our ministry. Really, the only option that is suitable for our family size and what we use the vehicle for is a Toyota Land Cruiser Troop Carrier. There are no better vehicles in PNG than the Land Cruiser for handling the rough terrine. The seating capacity and cargo space of the Troop Carrier makes it all-around the best vehicle for our needs. The seats of the Troop Carrier fold to the sides which allows us to carry a large amount of supplies securely inside the vehicle, transport sick people to the hospital, haul a full-sized 45 kg gas bottle, etc.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

We are currently borrowing a vehicle from a friend for trips to\/from the village. This has been a blessing but is not ideal as the vehicle is well-worn and any mechanical issues that may arise would consume resources that we have to put toward a vehicle of our own. We are trying to raise $63,000 as, unfortunately, there are no quality used Land Cruisers available on the market. We currently have about 47% of the funds raised so far!
