It’s happening!

September 11, 2014 by Lincoln and Alisha McIlroy

A couple of big things have in the last couple weeks. We got an email saying that our visa situation has changed- rather than getting a 2-year language school-sponsored visa, we are having to get a 2 month social visit one. This changed some of the things we need to do before we leave.
First, Alisha and I both need to get international car and motorcycle permits. The first step toward that, being that we already have driver’s licenses, was to get our motorcycle endorsements. Then there is some paperwork that we’ll need to fill out and fees to pay to internationalize that. So over this last weekend, we went into Spokane to a two-day motorcycle course. It was fun. And, we both passed! So we did that.
Second, the timing in applying for our visas changed. Somehow, this seems to have resulted in us being able to buy our tickets earlier than we thought. So, yesterday, we took our computer to the library, where there is wi-fi (we don’t have good internet at home) and bought tickets to Asia-Pacific! That was exciting.
Now, it feels real. We have our departure date. We’ll be flying out of Spokane on November 14th, and about 32 hours later, we’ll touch down in a city a couple hours from where we’ll be living.

Praise:
-Tickets!!
-Everything coming together in these final months before we leave…

Prayer:
-Homeschooling the kids
-Packing, applying for visas and everything else that needs to happen

Thank you for your continuing prayers… It’s just beginning.
