We are just wanting to let you all know what’s going on with us during this corona virus pandemic. The truth is, it’s probably much the same for us as it is for any of you. Things have accelerated really quickly the last couple weeks and at this point, we only leave the house out of necessity or to help one of our new families.
The country we live in has not responded as fast to the situation as some other countries and is just now starting to get serious about testing people for the virus and putting preventative measures in place. We have not had any confirmed cases in the town we live in that we know of, but we feel pretty sure there has to be some people who have it already. One good thing for us is that local people don’t tend to hoard things, so there have not really been major shortages of essential things.
We considered coming home to wait til this scare is over, but it sounds like the US has it pretty bad, too. We are a little concerned for Davis, since he gets sick easily, but we are going to be pretty strict on staying home unless we really need to go somewhere in order to try and make sure he doesn’t get exposed to anything.
It’s hard to know how long til this blows over, so we are stuck here for an unknown amount of time. One good things is that we have a pretty good sized yard, so the kids can go play out there and there is room to run around.
A couple other significant things are that we had a group of 3 new families arrive in town this week to start language and culture study and we also had another family join our consultant/support team here. Unfortunately, language study will probably more difficult than normal since we hardly leave our homes these days.
Thank you for your prayers and we are praying for you guys at home, too. We are just trusting that God knows how to take care of us.
Praise:
-No shortage of essentials so far
-New co-workers and new families
-A big house and yard
Prayer:
-That we, especially Davis, are able to stay healthy
-Wisdom in helping families continue language study in these circumstances
Thanks!
The McIlroys
