We’re at 39% of our support, and we’ll be speaking at a number of different churches in Washington, Idaho and Oregon all through summer and into the fall.

Until recently, I wasn’t nervous at all about going to Asia-Pacific, but as our support level climbs and the prospect of leaving in November begins to look more feasible, I’m starting to think more about what life in AP holds for us.

I have always looked forward to the language-learning aspect. But even though I enjoy that kind of thing, I know there will be times when it is overwhelming. It would be one thing to do this as a single person, but the idea of taking my whole family into it is sobering.

It’s easy to think we’re alone in this, to think that what we’re doing is our job. But this work was not my idea; it is God’s. I have only recently (from God’s perspective) become aware of it and interested in His work.

So to assume that the burden lies on me couldn’t be further from the truth. We are joining God’s global and eternal plan to make His name known; we are joining thousands of other missionaries worldwide for that purpose. And as missionaries, I know there are many people praying for us already. Thank you.

For many years, I have looked forward to the day we step off the plane on the other side of the world. But I’ve learned that God is interested in my life right now, moment by moment. He’s still preparing us for what lies ahead.

So as you pray for us, ask that we will learn the lessons at hand, and continually look to God each day.

Praise:

-Scout’s surgery a couple months ago went well, and her eyes still look good. For the time being, she doesn’t need glasses, but that may change.

-God has provided for us in ways we didn’t expect to get us to where we are at 39%. But there’s still a long way to go.

Prayer:
-Keeping things organized at this point is difficult, yet important (in terms of where we’re going each week, paperwork, who we need to e-mail, etc.)

-The kids get tired and confused and disobedient sometimes after all the traveling back and forth. We’re trying to come up with ways to help them survive all this.

Thank you!

The McIlroys

It’s the second week in July, and things are starting to pick up for us a little.
