One of the bad things, though, is that you are seldom home. Eventually, I think, you’re not sure where home is. Well, for now, we miss home. But we’re used to that.

One good thing is that we always have God’s Word wherever we go. We never have to go without that. Sometimes we forget certain truths, and when we are reminded of them, it’s like going home. Lately, I’ve been reading Romans. This morning it was chapter 5. I was reminded that although Adam’s sin brought death to all his descendants, God’s grace, far greater than sin, and his forgiveness have brought life to those who believe Him. We are at now peace with Him.

I remember being imperfect as a kid (anyone else?). When I did something wrong, I was afraid because I was at odds with my parents. I knew punishment was coming. But when we were reconciled, it was such a relief. This process was repeated countless times. I think, eventually, I learned something. But Jesus’ death has erased all my sin forever. There is no sin that God didn’t know about. I know we’ll have our issues as humans, but I know I need to remember that I have peace with God. Wherever we are, God is our home.

Anyways… Alisha has had a bad cough this week. None of the rest of us have really caught it yet. Last Saturday, I think it was, we took the kids to a state park not far away. In the park, there is an old mansion on a hill that burnt down a number of years ago. Some of it’s walls and foundation are still there. It’s made of stone, so it looks like a castle. You can see the lake far below. Elroy found a lizard while we were there. We took some pictures, which are on facebook now, and I’ll include a couple in here. You’ll notice that Scout is without her glasses in the pictures… the frames broke about a week ago, but they’ve since been fixed.

We’ve got about a month and a half left this semester. We look forward to coming home this summer and hopefully attending a wedding, as well as going to a reunion at the boys’ ranch where I grew up. We really do appreciate your prayers and support as we finish this linguistic training and move on to the place God knows.

Praise:

-For Peace with God

-Friends and family both here and at home

-For our kids (we like them)

Prayer:

-Dependence on God, not ourselves or anything else

-Alisha’s cough to go away.

-Finances (for finishing, and soon we’ll be raising support)

-The men at the Lighthouse who are hearing foundational Biblical teaching

Thanks!

~The Missouri McIlroys

There are a lot of good things about being a missionary.
