It is good for us to spend time with them.

At times people say to us that we have made sacrifices for the Lord in going to the mission field. I think the unsung heroes are the mums left at home who haven’t had the joy of walking with their grandchildren or watching them take their first steps or have them sleep over now and again.

Last month we were able to spend ten days with them and sit and chat, take them out for ice cream and a wee run in the car. Although we were gearing up for showers everyday, we have mostly good weather that didn’t dampen our spirits at all. As well as visiting our mums, we were able to catch up with some dear friends from way back. We also stayed with a dear friend who had served with us in PNG for a couple of years.

We realise that they both are getting on and we are praying about how we should be involved in taking care of them in the coming years

Here are the mums in question, Lisa with my mum and me with Lisa’s mum.

My mum

Lisa’s mum

Since moving to the States from Papua New Guinea, we have tried to visit our mums who are getting on in years a couple of times a year.
