Many of you guys have been praying with us foer my Co Workers Simon and Annika Flanagan. They have been a great blessing to us and we are very exited that Simon has completed his lannguage studies and is now helping with the work load.
It’s the week that Simon finished up his language and culture study. His final test covered a wide variety of subjects. He writes, “The test lasted for three days …. I had to explain how paper is made, how the rain works from evaporation onward …”
Though he is excited to have reached this milestone, there’s no time to sit back and rest. Simon urges, “Get out your knee pads, as we need your prayers.” He will be starting to teach the Firm Foundations Bible lessons, as well as writing lessons to be translated back into English.
Simon shares further, “These lessons will be used by consultants to check that my lessons are communicating well.” Eventually the lessons will be checked by native Mengen speakers. He explains that this is to assure that he is communicating well and that the content is all there.
Simon’s listeners are not just passive language critics. One teacher’s home where Simon will be teaching lessons includes a cult member whose family exerts much pressure for her to not listen to gospel teaching. Others who are listening to these lessons are Mengen believers experiencing adversity. Simon urges, “Pray that God would help me to be clear as I teach the gospel lessons and that I would have freedom in the Mengen language.”
Please pray for Annika as she completes her culture and language studies. Pray for Mengen believers and their families who work with Simon and Annika that they will grow in their understanding of God’s Word. Pray that God will open the hearts of this cult member and her friends who are hearing the message of the Gospel taught. And pray for this village where the seed of the Gospel is being planted daily, for God’s mighty work in watering and increasing the harvest for His glory
