Bruce and Apite (ah-pe-tay)
Before he was saved, Bruce was a real trouble-maker. We got to know him as a drunkard and thief, who gave us missionaries a real hard time. but through Gods grace he attended the teaching many years ago and both he and his wife became believers. Now he is a changed person—to say the least!!! He and Apite have a beautiful relationship and both of them are teaching their children God’s Word. It is so special to see them interact with each other and seek to honor the Lord in everything they do.
Bruce has been faithfully witnessing to his unsaved family members and has emerged as a leader in the church. Bruce, along with 2 other guys, were the first ones to develop into teachers and at first taught literacy classes as well as lead the singing in church. Eventually the church commissioned him and his wife to move to another village were we started a new outreach. They have been very faithful over the last 2 years and have been teaching and modeling Gods truth faithfully. The fruit of all this is that there is a new church planted within this village and they are even eager to reach out to a neighboring village.
What a joy to see this “previous mischief-maker” take a stand for Christ. Apite has been a testimony to her unsaved friends and family as well. Praise the Lord with us for their faithfulness. Please pray for Bruce and Apite, that they would continue to maintain a good testimony and that their marriage would remain strong. But especially pray for them that they will be able to continue with the work in the village in which they are living. There have been many requests for teaching and Brus have been carrying most of the work load. I think he teaches about 8 lessons a week. Also pray for him as I just heard that he is very ill and the believers have helped him to get to an aid post on the North Coast to try and get some help.
Thanks
