Saying Goodbye…
When we got onto the plane that morning of October the 27th, it was bitter sweet…I thought saying goodbye wont be so hard…haven’t we done this soooo many times before? But that’s life for a missionary; some things just don’t get easier. Even though it hurst we also know that it is good like that… We cried because we LOVE and feel loved. We cried because of relief…it was one of the hardest years of our lives, we cried because we have memories of time with family and friends and we cried because of the amazing new friends and Christian family we found. Even though our lives were once again packed into 6 bags, we got onto that plane as people who are blessed beyond what words can express…
Hong Kong…
We enjoyed the “doing nothing” time in the plane, and our first stop was a 12 hour layover in Hong Kong. We will never forget HK! It was a totally hot, cramped up city, where we paid the red tour bus to take us through the city while we sleep…we didn’t really LOOK at stuff, we just slept!!! With the wind in our hair, getting rid of JETLAG…
Arriving HOME
And then finally after 70 hours of traveling, about 30 of this on a plane, and a short night in a hotel due to a cancelled flight, we were HOME, being warmly welcomed by our missionary friends.
We forgot how hot this place can get…and with some jet lag left in us, we fell like flies on the couch…
What’s waiting on us?
Lourens just came back from a quick visit to go and see some of our bush friends…. he was so amazed with where they are at. GOD is building his church. More on this later… This week Lourens is in another part of PNG for some leadership meetings, so we are “alone” for the next 9 days….
I started supply buying; getting enough supplies for the next 4 months that awaits us in the bush. Lord willing we will fly in on November 24.
Kids…Are all doing great and was welcomed by about a dozen of their old friends. They are working hard in school as we had too many days off with “last” things in SA. And we had a birthday a few days ago…
A big thank you
We are where we are today because of your love, your unceasing prayer and your faithful financial gifts. We live in a VERY expensive country where food is 3x more expensive than back home. Not to mention the flights to get the food into the bush…so we are truly thankful for every gift! You are such an encouragement to us…
What to pray for
Pray for us as we are getting use to the heat…almost all of the kids have one or other rash…
- Pray for our health in general, so far so good, but poor Liam already had 2 infected sores, insect bites that becomes infected…
- Pray for wisdom in planning for the next 4 months
- Pray for Lourens as he evaluates the churches planted amongst the Mengens and plans his scope of work for the next season.
- And just thank God with is for bringing us this far!!!
Sooo privileged to be on your team reaching the Mengens…..
Lots of love
