Mengen Outreaches growing

May 7, 2016 by Lourens Laureti

Hi friends

Just a quick bit of news on the Mengen church.

Bologo Church Plant doing Well

12316252_10153632857290239_3153099837989006263_nI Just came back from an encouraging visit at our North Coast Outreach. I met up with the Mengen teachers and trainees from both our village and Bologo as well as their wife’s. And we studied through the book of Titus. It was really a good time of fellowship, discipleship and mutual encouragement. In the picture is Eddie on the left who help train and disciple Brus on the right who again train and disciples Talex in the centre.

New outreach in Bologo

The Bologo church is growing slowly but surely and its great to see them reaching out amongst their own. They are about half
way teaching through the chron teaching form Genesis to Christ. This is mainly driven by Mengen teachers but also by Talex who is a trainee in Bologo.

Literacy

12308454_10153632855870239_8425017340001166745_nIn the past literacy ran well in our village but the church never really took ownership of it. As we started to take our hands of it, it started to collapse and eventually came to a halt. As we missionaries typically wanting to do we thaught of taking it back and kick starting it again, but through Gods grace we stayed away from doing that. So now the church again started to realize the importance of literacy to both teach illiterate people but also teach comprehension skills to those who can already read, so that they can read Gods Word better with understanding. Thank the Lord with us for Kamalus and Sepin who will be driving this in Bologo. Please pray for faithfulness in this as this is a long process!

New church Plant starting soon

Eddie and his wife and kids might soon move down to a new village on the South Coast to plant a church there. They will be doing more talk with the Bologo believers about this during these next months. There has been a long standing request from Soi village for teaching and at last our church and the Bologo church has come to a point where they are starting to feel ready to send a family.

As many of you know we have been struggling to penetrate some areas directly towards the North of our village. This would be due to the strong hold the cargo cult has on people there and other factors. But over the years we have been able to teach a few families faithfully. One of those families are Mengen lady married to a Siar man. Both of them are nurses in the local aid post about 2 hours hike away from us. Our teachers and trainees have been faithfully teaching this family chronologically and they have now come to the point where Karl and Rose, are making a clear profession of faith in Christ alone for their salvation!

Traveling

Please be praying for me as I will be traveling allot during these next weeks. I will be visiting new locations where missionaries are working at in other language groups. I will give some feedback as soon as I am back.

Lots of love
