How does working with technology…
translate to this?
For whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent?
Paul tells us in Romans chapter 10 that we are to go out and present the good news of the redemption through our Lord, Jesus Christ. It takes a network of people all performing the gifts that God has given them together to support the mission of introducing God to people who have never met Him.
What role does Information Technology (IT) really play in the light of missions today? If you take a second and think about all the conveniences we have today in America you will quickly notice the importance that information technology has in shaping our culture. It is almost inescapable as we rely on our mobile devices to communicate up-to-date news with our various social and professional groups, rely on our laptops to perform specific functions that assist us in doing our jobs well and storing millions of images, audio and video that tell the story of our life.
Using technology here in our culture is not much different than in a tribal setting where missionaries use technology to communicate news to people at home, use software resources to accomplish their job and store important data that documents their every day experiences. It is just as vital to have reliable communications, computers that work when you need them and specific software that expedites your work.
Within Ethnos360, Information Technology is an important asset in providing network services and creating a reliable infrastructure that allows missionaries to complete their tasks. We are excited to be a part of this ministry to equip and provide services that are essential for missionaries stateside and on the field to utilize for a greater impact on reaching the world.
What people are saying about the ministry
As the Executive Director of Information Technology (IT) for New Tribes Mission USA, I am thrilled to have Marc and Angela join our team here at the Home Office. Marc has already proven himself to be a very capable and willing servant to many in our department and we eagerly await the time he can join us full time. His months of volunteer work here spanned various aspects of the IT operations, from end user support to hardware setup and on to network and systems administration. Everyone in the department gives him high praise for his ability to be a team player, and all would gladly welcome him in their group. With Marc’s recent college coursework completed, we will be asking him to step into a mid-level network/system administrator role, but he will be available to other groups as the needs arise-he’s that good and well respected.
One thing I would stress is our need and desire to see Marc come into the department as soon as possible. We have many needs and want to move forward on a number of initiatives, but lack the capable manpower to do so. Marc will fill an invaluable role in that respect, and his talents and work skills are much desired at this critical point in our department. Anything you can do to speed them on to a successful financial position would be greatly appreciated. Marc truly glorifies the Lord in his service to New Tribes Mission.
