After several years of bombardment by unwanted circumstances, there was finally clear direction. We continued to pray, sought the Lord in our times of distress and discouragement, and relied on His word to lead us through those tough times. It was not easy by any means, but we are thankful that God led us through the last 4 years to strip us down to where we completely relied upon Him. Through our circumstances we began to have greater faith that God would take care of our needs as we sought Him. He was and still is teaching our family not to look at our circumstances but look toward the cross and be content with His provision, whatever that may be. We are thankful for the peace that brings.
It has been two years since Marc enrolled in the Networking program at the local college to increase his skills in order to serve in I.T. supporting other missionaries. One of the final requirements of the program was to complete an internship with a company or organization. This was exciting because there was a possibility to intern in the Computer Services department of New Tribes Mission at their Home Office in Sanford, Florida gaining valuable experience and wisdom working with a mission organization.
After talking and interviewing with the leadership, Marc started his internship with NTM helping out in the different areas of the Computer Services department. His internship was only required to last 12 weeks during that summer and proved to be a great opportunity to test if this was the direction God was leading our family for service in missions. Marc continued to volunteer a couple of days each week until December. NTM’s vision for reaching the unreached with the Gospel aligned with our desire to pursue missions as a full-time ministry.
Even though we were excited about the possibilities of serving with NTM we needed to sell our business before we could become “full-time” Missionaries. Since 2004 when we moved to Deltona from Clearwater, Florida, the business we owned was definitely a blessing for our family. We enjoyed watching our children grow up helping out in the sign shop and learning all about the sign business. We were greatly encouraged by the many lives we connected with and how those relationships grew over the years. In December of 2011 God again moved mightily as He sold the sign shop to a long time client and friend of ours that wanted to keep the business alive.
