As this year started we had great encouragement of our missionary journey becoming a reality. One thing was still a hindrance to our beginning the application process with New Tribes Mission. In 2000, early in our marriage, we both attended Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida to finish up our Bachelors degree. In doing so we accumulated a student loan debt we are still paying on. In order to serve with NTM we are required to have no more than $20,000 in combined student loan debt. At the time we were applying to NTM our student loan debt was at the $23,000 mark and we had to bring that to under the requirement. At the time there was no possible way for us to bring the total down below the requirement working odd jobs and part-time. A month after the business sold, God again showed us His amazing provision through His people. Friends and family came to us with the amount we required to bring our student loan debt down below the $20,000 mark. After selling our business and God providing for our student loan debt we were now able to begin the application process with New Tribes Mission and hopefully move forward. For the next several months we continued to live completely by God’s provision. Since we had sold our business and were in the middle of applying to NTM as missionaries we did not have steady income each month. God provided Marc with part-time work and Angela with massage clients to help pay our expenses but most of our provision came from the gifts of people God had blessed. It was amazing to see how God continued to provide. Each and every day was wonderful and challenging at the same time. We are thankful God has and is still in the process of teaching us to trust in Him.
From January to July, we completed the application process with NTM and prayed for it to be approved. As of August first we were officially accepted as New Tribes Missionaries and now our journey continues. Our first ministry assignment is to build a team of people to pray and financially support us in our ministry.
I hope that by reading our story it has encouraged you to trust in the God who loves you and promises hope in Him through Christ Jesus alone (Ephesians 2:12) as you seek Him and His kingdom (Matthew 6:33-34). If our story has raised some questions in your heart and you want to know about this hope in Christ, please take the time to contact us so we can discuss this more.
Since 2007, our path has changed many times in different directions. God used MAF to fuel our passion and desire to work in missions, made it possible to partner with the Journey’s Haiti Mission Ministry and then made a way for us to serve with New Tribes Mission in the Information Technology field helping to share the Gospel with those who have never heard before. We now look back and see how all the circumstances we were involved in were there to lead us in a direction we were unable to see at the time. In hindsight, we see how God was always with us, protecting us, providing for us, and showing His grace and mercy along the way. We serve an amazing God.
