{"id":281,"date":"2017-04-20T18:28:15","date_gmt":"2017-04-20T23:28:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/matt-long\/?p=281"},"modified":"2017-04-20T18:28:15","modified_gmt":"2017-04-20T23:28:15","slug":"snorkeling-or-suffocating","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/matt-long\/2017\/04\/20\/snorkeling-or-suffocating\/","title":{"rendered":"Snorkeling or Suffocating"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gallery.mailchimp.com\/31aa8d2d31b3e18299f120386\/_compresseds\/709c1416-3be4-4f8d-8ac9-b2e0ae2c3ff4.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" data-file-id=\"2520637\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The difference between the two is just a little plastic tube. \u00a0Recently I (Karissa) got the opportunity to go snorkeling in the ocean. \u00a0I got to see beautiful coral reefs and fish I&#8217;d only seen in aquariums. \u00a0It was an experience, but I can&#8217;t say it was a fully enjoyable one. \u00a0As I was swimming, I couldn&#8217;t shake the feeling like I might drown at any moment. \u00a0I knew that I could breathe through\u00a0the snorkel, that it was my connection to the vast supply of oxygen above, but it wasn&#8217;t how I was used to breathing. \u00a0I really wanted to just pop my head up and breathe, but whenever I did, I\u00a0missed the beauty below. \u00a0So I tried to keep swimming, gazing on the beauty and trusting my snorkel to bring me air, repeating to myself, &#8220;Just keep breathing. \u00a0Breathe in, Breathe out.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', 'marker felt-thin', arial, sans-serif;\">Our time in PNG has been a little bit like that. \u00a0We know it is an incredible privilege,<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', 'marker felt-thin', arial, sans-serif;\"> with opportunities to see God at work in ways we&#8217;ve never seen before. \u00a0But it&#8217;s been hard, and different. \u00a0We don&#8217;t know our next steps- we don&#8217;t have partners yet, and we don&#8217;t know for sure where we&#8217;ll move to in a couple of months. \u00a0We are having to depend on God for our sustenance and His provision in a moment-by-moment way. \u00a0Jesus is our connection to the vast supply of all God&#8217;s power above. \u00a0When we wonder what God is doing, we have to remind ourselves of His past faithfulness and Who we know Him to be. \u00a0We have to keep saying to ourselves, &#8220;Just keep trusting. \u00a0Trust Him today. \u00a0Trust Him tomorrow.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gallery.mailchimp.com\/31aa8d2d31b3e18299f120386\/_compresseds\/ca4b5b1f-d910-453e-9dab-6aa314f56656.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" data-file-id=\"2520585\" \/><br \/>\n[Matt with his language helper, eating food he taught us how to make with wild greens they collected in the bush]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', 'marker felt-thin', arial, sans-serif;\">Our time in Madang region is rapidly drawing to a close. \u00a0We will have our last week of classes next week, clean our house, and say goodbyes to the wonderful people we&#8217;ve met here. \u00a0At the beginning of May, we will head to a New Tribes center in the highlands where we will do a week of medical training. \u00a0After that, we will begin our &#8220;bush orientation.&#8221; \u00a0At that time we will get to live in a village in the highlands where there is already a church planted. \u00a0We will spend a month there, getting to learn from the missionary there about all kinds of things, like how to do life in the bush, and we will continue our Pidgin study.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'comic sans ms', 'marker felt-thin', arial, sans-serif;\">We are so thankful for you. \u00a0We couldn&#8217;t do this without knowing there is a team of people behind us, praying for us and rooting us on.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gallery.mailchimp.com\/31aa8d2d31b3e18299f120386\/images\/7ade505a-ba06-4729-af03-8c2622ea76c4.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" data-file-id=\"2524429\" \/><br \/>\n[Look who I found in PNG!
