\u201cI can\u2019t tell you what to major in.\u00a0\u00a0I can\u2019t tell you what job you are supposed to have.\u00a0\u00a0I can\u2019t tell you who you are supposed to marry.\u00a0\u00a0But I can tell you God\u2019s will for your life.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Anyone who went to Northwestern while Dean Paulson was the chaplain will surely remember him saying that.\u00a0\u00a0In fact, I hear his voice in my head whenever I read a verse that says, \u201cFor this is God\u2019s will for you in Christ Jesus.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0That\u2019s what Dean would always be referring to when he said he could tell us God\u2019s will for our lives.\u00a0\u00a0There are actually a lot of verses in the Bible that say \u201cthis is God\u2019s will for you.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Among them are, \u201cGive thanks in all circumstances\u201d (1 Thess.5:18), \u201cIt is God\u2019s will that you should be sanctified\u201d (1 Thess.4:3), \u201cdoing good\u201d (1 Peter 2:15), \u201cBe filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms\u201d (Eph.5:18-19), \u201cTo act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God\u201d (Micah 6:8).\u00a0\u00a0Some of God\u2019s will is unknown to us- we are not always sure what big decision we should make, but these are things that we can know with confidence that God wants us to be doing.

We don’t know all that God has for us in the future, but we know what God has for us now. \u00a0We are trying to teach our students well and love them with God’s love. \u00a0We are trying to be an encouragement to other missionaries, and are going to be leading a small group soon. \u00a0We are praying about how to be a witness to the PNG citizens that live right here close to us. \u00a0We are planning to continue to be involved in the school here next year, because there is a dire need for teachers, and we are teachers!

Please pray that God would bring other teachers for next year as well. \u00a0The school here serves not only the children of NTM missionaries, but also the children of many other missions here in PNG, as well as PNG citizens. \u00a0Because of the shortage of teachers, they may not be able to offer classes to everyone next year. \u00a0This will affect the ministries of many who are working to reach the people of PNG. \u00a0We also want the school to be able to serve as many PNG citizens as possible, because if we want them to be able to take over the work of teaching and translating someday, they need a quality education. \u00a0We are not only supporting the work of tribal missionaries now; we are equipping the next generation to take it over.

Oh, and we never told you about the other new thing Matt is doing. \u00a0He is taking over the role of housing director for our campus. \u00a0This means he helps to figure out where missionaries can live, make sure they have what they need, and coordinates housing for missionaries coming out from the bush or other missions. \u00a0So, lots of emails and spreadsheets! \u00a0Just another administrative role that needs to be done to support this work!
