During my childhood I looked forward to summer for two main reasons: My birthday is in June, and school’s summer break. These days I no longer consciously keep track of my age, and summer involves no breaks. This summer stands out to me for another reason altogether, we are 5 months away from out target arrival date in Senegal.
January 2016 is still our goal, but there still aren’t any confirmed dates. That’s because before we can begin purchasing our plane tickets we must raise 75% of our monthly pledged support. On top of that we still want to raise 100% of our recommended support. Currently we find ourselves around 36% with five months to go.
I made a chart to help visualize one way that our fully raised support level could look like:
I then began to mark off the monthly donations that people have committed to. Are you surprised by the variety of donation sizes? Pledges of any amount make a difference! I was encouraged to see the generosity that is already being show to us. Hopefully, some of you may be encouraged to see the part that you are playing!
Recently God has been encouraging me and reminding me that He is the one who will provide. Gently it seems He is bidding me to keep moving forward. I am reassured by Hebrews 13:8 which says “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” He has always faithfully lead me in this life, and that isn’t ever going to change.
The graph above may look simple to you, but when I look at it I am reminded of faithful men and women who give generously for the sake of the Gospel.
- Please pray that God continue to provide, and that we would be faithful to continue pressing on.
- Pray that others would pledge to give monthly.
- Pray that we will be able to arrive in January!
Thank you so much for your prayers!
