Just a quick note to share some prayer requests for the coming weeks.
Pray for our health! Last week Nancy had a low grade fever all week, followed by Emma. Now Michael is fighting something. We think it is just a virus. Pray we would have strength to do all that needs to be done the next few weeks.
Pray for the elections in Guinea! They passed peacefully on September 28th. Pray that the results would be revealed in peace, with no problems.
Pray for our paperwork! We have gotten visas for Guinea, which only took a day or so to process! We are busy filling out paperwork, getting mugshots ;) and visiting lots of offices. We also are trying to get residency cards for Senegal (I know a little late right?!) Well, we were not planning on staying long enough to need a residency card. But Senegal is starting to require visas and it would be cheaper to get a residency card (they last for quite some time) than to get visas for the whole family once! It looks like all the appointments are lining up.
Pray for a relaxing ‘mini vacation’. We are not going anywhere really, but the last week here in Senegal we will be staying at our Mission Guesthouse. (Kind of like a ‘hotel’ for missionaries.) We hope to rest, relax, let the kids play on the playground, visit the beach and anything else our hearts desire! We are looking forward to this break from our studies.
Pray for our trip! We plan to leave on October 5th and trip should take two full days of travel. Pray for safety, and border crossings.
Pray for our family during this transition. We are already noticing signs of unease with the kids. Micah was very happy the other day to know ALL his toys were going with him this time! Pray that we would be sensitive to each others needs in this stressful time!
Pray for Michael’s French Evaluation. He is not finished yet, but it will be very good to see WHERE he is and know what he needs to focus on more.
Pray for our expenses to be met.
Pray for the city of Dakar, currently undergoing a serious water shortage due to broken pipelines from the water treatment plants. We have been thankful for the rain and the few days that we had a trickle of water to collect, and for the fact that we have filters and the means to buy bottled water to drink. At the mission guesthouse, we are in a part of the city that is still getting some water. Pray for those even more hard hit than we are! Pray for the health of the city (unclean water and not enough water for good hygiene are prime factors in cholera or dysentery outbreaks).
Praise that we have had several donations towards our expenses! We are VERY thankful for all that you all sacrifice in order to help us out in this way!
Praise that we have survived in West Africa for 10 months now! It is a little crazy to think about, but we have learned a lot along the way.
Praise for all the friends we have made here! We have had several visitors this past week from friends we have made here. We will miss them, and look forward to making even more friends in Guinea.
Praise that WE ARE ALMOST BACK TO GUINEA! Can you tell we are VERY excited about getting back?
Psalm 4:8 “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.”
